Honors Program

The Honors program is designed for highly motivated students who welcome the challenge of producing a solo exhibition of work. As an honors student, you will take six credits of ARTS 499 (three credits each semester) with your faculty chair. At the end of your second semester, you will turn in a seven to ten page paper, produce and hang a solo exhibition, and present a public talk about your work.

3.5 cumulative GPA is required. If you have between a 3.2 and 3.49 cumulative GPA, the professor who is your potential honors committee chair can formally request that the department chair allow you into the program.

Application Requirements

  1. Two-page artist statement
  2. Full-time professor in photography who is willing to serve as the chair of your thesis committee
  3. Two additional faculty members willing to serve on your thesis committee
  4. Application form (download)
  5. Twelve samples of work

Applications due
November 30 for students wishing to begin in the spring; April 30 for students wishing to begin in the fall. Turn your materials in to the Departmental Advisor.
